On the morning of April 8, Shenzhen Institute of Terahertz Technology And Innovation and University of Waterloo held a project exchange and cooperation conference at the No.2 Conference Room of BUPT Hotel in Beijing. Ding Qing, CCT Vice President and SITTI Executive Dean, Dr. Zheng Zhu, Director of SITTI Terahertz Communication Center, Dr. Yang Bin, Deputy Director of SITTI Terahertz Communication Center, Dr. Han Lin, Researcher and Project Leader, Mrs. Lin Xiaoqi, SITTI External Liaison Officer and Prof. J.Richard Culham, Acting Dean, Faculty of Engineering, University of Waterloo, Canada, Prof. Safieddin (Ali) Safavi-Naeini, Director of Centre for Intelligent Antenna and Radio Systems (CIARS), Prof. Sherman Shen, Prof. Keith Hipel, Prof. Anwar Hasan and Professor Manoj Sachdev attended the meeting.
The meeting was presided over by Mr. Ding Qing, CCT Vice President and SITTI Executive Dean, he expressed his welcome and gratitude to the leaders and professors of the University of Waterloo and expressed the need for a strategic alliance between schools and institutes in order to conform to the industrial development trend and achieve win-win cooperation for common development. Lin Xiaoqi, SITTI External Liaison Officer gave a basic introduction on SITTI profile, research results and research direction. Dr. Han Lin, Researcher and Project Leader made a detailed report on microfluidic chip project. Dr. Zhengzhu, Director of SITTI Terahertz Communication Center fully introduced the terahertz communication project. Prof. Ali, CIARS Director introduced the professional and research areas of the Academy. Subsequently, the two sides had in-depth exchanges and discussions on the microfluidic chip and terahertz communications and other projects detailed, analyzing the feasibility of cooperation projects, trying to reach a consensus, and jointly promoted the development of scientific research projects.
It is understood that Canada is one of the first Western countries to establish the foreign relations with China. The two countries have friendly traditions and history of cooperation. In recent years, the cooperation between the two governments has made great progress. At present, not only has China signed an intergovernmental agreement on scientific and technological cooperation with the Canadian Federal Government, but also with many major provinces in Canada, such as Ontario, British Columbia Provinces, Quebec and Alberta, etc., established a long-term stable scientific and technological cooperation with China Ministry of Science and Technology. Therefore, the two sides have broad cooperation space. Hope that through this cooperation, the exchange and the establishment of long-term cooperative relations will be set up. Let’s promote the international cooperation on terahertz technology, build an open and flexible, pragmatic and efficient cooperation mechanism to achieve complementary advantages, mutual benefit and win-win situation.
